A tufted carpet is made with a tool called a "tufting gun." Loops of yarn are pushed through the backing in the wanted pattern incl. the cutted loop velvet.

When the carpetmaker is through with this tufting process, a foundation is made at the backing with latex glue. This finish is for securing the loop to stay fastened on the backing.

Hand-tufted rugs can withstand high traffic and can withstand 12 to 20 years of use.Traffic behavior is measured by using the following terms:

High traffic areas include hallways, family room and entryway.

Medium traffic areas include the dining room and home office.

Low traffic areas include bedrooms and formal living room.
